Laminate floors have a special tongue and groove locking system that tightly joins the planks and tiles together. Also, laminate often works in places that wood does not- in basements, over concrete, and over many existing floors. Finally, they are by far the simplest flooring type to maintain. In most cases, a simple sweeping or a light mopping is all that is required.
